Being Ruthie’s mom is the best thing that ever happened to me, but at times it can be challenging. It’s the best because every time I come home from accounting school, she runs behind the curtains and tells me in her loud high voice to find her. It’s the funniest thing in the world, because I can always see her tiny feet. I didn’t know it, but these days I always look forward to seeing her little feet behind the curtains.
When I found out I was pregnant at 16, I was worried and didn't know what the future would have in store for me. Luckily I had Mama to encourage me to be a good mom and make progress towards my dreams.
Mama, Ruthie, and Nathan from next door are the most important people in my life. I don’t think I would have made it without them. Coming home from the hospital with Ruthie was a little hard the first few weeks, but Mama said we would find a way.
Mama asked Nathan to speak to me about accounting school. I’ve always been really good with numbers at school. Last year, before Ruthie was born, I got a special prize for being the best at Mathematics in my class. Nathan is an instructor at the school and he said he thinks I have talent. I’m glad he said that, because after I had Ruthie, I felt challenged. But guess what? I graduate in 6 months and I can’t wait!
I can’t wait to be an accountant some day! I read on the internet that I would have to work really hard at accounting school for my diploma, and then after I graduate I can get a job as an accountant. Maybe one day I will run my own accounting company?!
I’ve learned a lot this past year. I learned that I am strong , a good mom to Ruthie, and I really can do anything if i believe in myself.
